Choosing a Family Doctor

When we aren't feeling quite right, usually the first person we'd consider seeing is our family doctor. Of course, if you need emergency care, you may choose to go to a hospital, but once you've been treated they will ask you to see your family doctor in a follow-up visit.

Because they are so important to you, a family doctor needs to be someone who is interested in your health, both in and out of the office. Of course the doctor can't be on call at all hours just for you, but you should feel that you aren't just a number to them. You need to feel you can trust the doctor, and that you are sincerely cared about.

So how do you find a good family doctor? The easiest way is to use the family doctor of your parents as your own, for your family. But suppose you move away. Well then perhaps your old family doctor can recommend a doctor in your new hometown. But it's unlikely. One good way to find a doctor is to search the internet for family doctors in your town or state. Another idea is to look online for a clinic near you. Also there are referral services online, that can help you find doctors in your area who would fulfill your needs.

Or you can look online for your community, for their chamber of commerce website. Pretty much all towns have one. And they will have listings of doctors. Of course if you have HMO insurance, you may be limited to which doctors you can choose. So then you would need to check the insurance website for doctors they will allow.

Hopefully you'll soon find a doctor that accepts new patients. Once you do, you can go for an ordinary checkup, and see if you like the doctor. While there, you can find out about services they offer, and what hours they are around. If you have a spouse and/or kids, you should have them see if they like the new doctor too. When you see the doctor, you'll find out how long they will see you that day, and how thorough they are with an exam. Also how caring and knowledgeable the doctor seems.

Also when you make the appointment, see how soon you can see the doctor. If it takes a month or more to get an appointment, then that doctor might not be the one for you. And once your there, you can see how long the waits are. Some people don't like waiting half the day to see the doctor.

The main thing to remember is, there is no law that says you have to see a particular doctor if you don't like them. There a lots of physicians in the US, who speak the same language as you and practice near your home. And there's a better than average chance that if you keep searching, you will eventually find a doctor you enjoy and who is helpful for your health concerns.

Kids Fitness

We all know the benefits of fitness and its importance in living a good life. You need to be fit in order to enjoy everything you do. A person who is healthy and fit both physically and mentally is more efficient and focused on what ever he chooses to do. A fit body is more resistant to diseases and infections. Exercises can help us get in shape burning the extra calories we add up in our daily eating habits. Children in growing age need to exercise so that they can get all the benefits and develop a healthy body and mind with a happy attitude. Habits formed in early ages go for a lifetime so we should be careful about how we are shaping up the future of our kids.

This is the digital age where children have all kinds of choices like computers, gadgets, video games, DVDs, TVs to spend their time in a way they find interesting. They can spend whole day playing on their Playstation or watching DVD on big screen LCD TV having their favorite snacks and sodas without any physical exercise. This is a big reason for growing obesity in children. They would prefer using mobile phones for long hours rather than visiting the friend's house.

Good exercise and diet are essentials of fitness and good health with almost no alternatives, and that is especially important with children. Parents can always set an example for them, involving them in physical activity indoors or outdoors. Going for walks, jogs or cycling together can be good ways of involving the kids in the exercise. Children enjoy going to the park or riding their bicycles for long periods at a time. Involving children with your own exercise routine can also make it interesting for both and you can also take a note of their interests and level of fitness.

Diet plays a very important part in overall growth of children. They would eat what tastes good and not what is healthy, so the best solution is to mix both health and taste before giving it to them. Children get easily addicted to junk food and aerated drinks, which is not good for health. So it's the parents again who should guide and educate their kids about what is healthy and nutritious and what's not.

Indigestion Treatment and Causes - Tips to Reduce Symptoms

Do you eat too much, too quickly or stressed? What do you feel after eating? Do you have a sense of fullness after eating even if you only have eaten a small amount of food? These are only some of the questions a doctor may ask during consultation to determine if a person is suffering from indigestion.

Indigestion is different from constipation. This symptom is sometimes called dyspepsia, discomfort after meal or upset stomach. This kind of ailment is often accompanied by nausea, abdominal bloating, belching and vomiting.

Causes of Indigestion

Indigestion could be a symptom or a result of a currently occurring disease. It might be caused by a disease in the digestive system like ulcer or gastroesophageal reflux disease. However, the most common causes among many people are eating too much, eating too quickly, eating highly fatty foods or eating during stressful situations. These factors cause the stomach to not digest the food properly. Fatty foods are really difficult to digest especially those that contain insoluble fats.

Other causes include smoking, drinking too much alcohol, using medications that irate the stomach lining and being tired or stressed. However, there are other people that suffer indigestion that are not related to the previous factors mentioned. This type of indigestion is called functional or non-ulcer indigestion. It is a result of the malfunctioning of the stomach muscle while squeezing or digesting the food in take.

Treatment and Prevention of Indigestion

Other than the routinely physical diagnostic questions that a patient should honestly answer to determine if the patient is suffering from indigestion, there are other diagnosis that some physicians initiate to make sure of the occurrence of the ailment. Some of these require x-rays of the stomach and endoscopy of the small intestines.

As the adage goes, prevention is better than cure, the occurrence of indigestion could easily be prevented when the food intake is monitored. Monitoring food does not only require a person to check the food contents or nutritional values of the food but even the time of eating and the amount of food. It is still better to avoid the foods or situations that can cause indigestion. Smokers can be relieved when smoking is minimized or quitted. Exercising just after eating is also not recommended as it also causes indigestion.

When the problem is functional, consultation to doctors could provide the treatment. They could either give oral medication that may affect stomach motility or prescribe internal diagnosis.

Indigestion could be serious

Since indigestion could be a precursor to a more serious disease in the digestive tract, a person should see a doctor when the indigestion becomes recurrent or the symptoms have become worse or aggravating.

When indigestion already goes with vomiting, weight loss, appetite loss, black tarry stools or blood in vomit, heartburn or severe pain in the upper right of the abdomen, discomfort unrelated to eating, shortness of breathing and sweating, a person is already advised to see a doctor for consultation and diagnosis.

When the symptoms enumerated above last longer than two weeks, the indigestion could have already been elevated to serious disorder.

A Comparison of Online Diet Services - Which One Will Work For Your Eating Type?

With obesity becoming a more significant problem in the US, there seem to be more diets and diet programs cropping up than ever before. Online diet programs can be a great resource of dieters who need guidance and support, but which online diet programs really produce results? In this article, the Best Buys team reviewed the top two industry contenders, Diet.com and eDiets, to get the skinny on online diet programs.

Food Choices

A diet will surely fail if you don't like the food. In order to increase the chances for success, Diet.com uses a personality test to determine exactly which type of eater you are and builds a diet plan that is specifically tailored to your personality. However, the preplanned diet regiment does limit customization, which can be a problem for people with specific dietary needs.

Instead of a preplanned diet, eDiets offers over twelve plans along with recommendations about the type of person who will be a good fit for each plan. By having more choices, you have more opportunities to find the diet that best suits your lifestyle.

Exercise Commitments

Although many of us dread exercise, a weight loss or diet program that doesn't include fitness training is probably not going to work as well as one that does. Though we'd like to believe that we could lose all the weight we want without moving a muscle, diets without exercise plans are more likely to be marketing hype rather than the real deal.

Like their menus, Diet.com uses a personality program to assign a fitness regimen. You might be assigned walking, Pilates, aerobics or other exercises depending on how you answer the questions. This is a smart option for those who need more direction with planning an exercise routine.

eDiets also creates an exercise program based on your personality but customization requires an additional monthly fee. With your paid subscription, you'll also have access to their nutritional tracker which allows you to track your exercise and body changes along with your diet.

Supportive Community

Weight loss is certainly much easier with the support of a strong community. Both Diet.com and eDiets offer large and active forums, giving you option to connect with dieters and fitness experts for advice and support. Both communities have regular challenges to keep members motivated.

eDiets takes the idea of community a step further, giving users the opportunity to create custom forums for those with similar goals and interests. eDiets also offers live group chats on nutrition, exercise, and motivation that are hosted by a professional.

The Fast Weight Loss Scam

Yeah, we've all heard about how to achieve fast weight loss. "Exercise for as little as 8 minutes a day and lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks!". Claims like this have been around for many years. You buy this junky gizmo and get incredible results for only $19.95! Or, you buy this $2000 piece of cardio equipment and the weight will melt off! Let's be real here. Do you really think losing weight is this easy? If it were, everyone would be in great shape and the obesity epidemic would be nill. Sure, some of this stuff will work, but results will be limited.

The real question with popular home gym equipment is how well are they built. They certainly aren't as durable as the commercial equipment at your local gym. What a lot of these companies bank on is the fact that you'll use it for 8 weeks or less and then turn it into a coat hanger.

Sorry, I got a little off topic. Back to the nitty gritty. Fast weight loss does not come by a small level of commitment, taking a pill, or using only a specific piece of equipment. It's a factor of lots of hard work, discipline, a correct nutrition strategy, and possibly some form of supplementation.

There, I said it. No, I'm not going to tell you it's easy and will come with little time and effort. This seems to be the "American Way" with everything we do in life. Unfortunately, very few results will come by following any fast weight loss strategy. I've mentioned the following before, but feel they may need to be reviewed once more.

Fat Loss Program Needs

1. Weight Training - This is probably the most important area of concern besides nutrition. If you understand anything about the human body, you'll know that efficiency is of utmost importance. This is the "survival mechanism" and applies heavily to weight loss efforts.

For example, let's say you've started on a restricted calorie diet. This tells the body to use it's energy stores (fat) and minimize energy usage (muscle). Without weight training, the body will degrade muscle tissue because of it's high energy cost. In turn, this will slow the metabolism down and cause results to eventually plateau. Lost muscle mass, GASP!

2. Nutrition - Definitely, the most important aspect of a fat loss program. If you consume too much food, it's gonna take a whole lot of exercise to lose weight. I'm talking a 24/7 affair with small improvements made. So, it makes sense to reduce/control caloric intake.

This can be accomplished through popular nutrition strategies such as Adkins, The Zone, South Beach, Low Fat High Carb, etc. Understand, however, that fast weight loss will not and should not take place. The goal should be around 1-4 pounds per week depending upon body composition and body weight. Any more than that and chances are you're losing muscle and plenty of body water.

My personal belief is that quality of food needs to be addressed first. This means minimizing processed foods and returning to more natural sources. Following this, I've found that the overweight population doesn't do well with carbohydrates. This is especially true as the day wears on. Nutritionist's call this "nutrient timing".

The body is better able to utilize carbohydrates early on in the day when testosterone levels are highest. As the day progresses, levels diminish and carbohydrates are more easily stored as fat. In individuals with higher body fat, this window is even smaller. UGH!

3. ESD - This is also a very important area that needs to be addressed. For fat loss, energy must be consumed through activity. Unfortunately, in this technological age, this cannot be accomplished through ADL's or Activities of Daily Living. We work jobs where sitting dominates and automobiles provide any and all transportation. Many also rely on steady-state cardiovascular methods while I tend to believe that relying on higher intensity activities, such as sprinting and intervals, will produce faster results.

4. Supplementation - Supplements tend to be relied upon too heavily when embarking on such a goal. They are just what the name states, a supplement to your diet program. In other words, having a crappy diet with tons of supplements will get you nowhere!

Some supplements I recommend and have been found by research to help with the effort include: fish oil, post workout shakes, a multivitamin, and possibly a stimulant of some kind.

I hope you don't get drawn in by the fast weight loss gimmicks and realize it's going to take time and energy to get where you want to be. Go join a gym and get to work!

Do You Have These Fitness Essentials?

I love toys. Don't you?

Around this time of year I love to see small children playing with gifts they got for the holidays. It doesn't matter whether it was a $5 dollar gadget, something homemade or a huge electronic gaming system. Watching people play is something that truly brings me joy.

Fitness can and should be the same way.

It should always be fun.

Sure you can make it challenging and undoubtedly you should be fatigued after a quality session. But you should have fun along the way.

To make that happen, I have developed a list of duffel bag goodies that will guarantee you can get in a workout, anywhere, anytime, and make it fun. If you make sure to have these few easy to find items, you will be able to make every workout enjoyable. And most likely, you can get someone to join you to add to the fun factor.

The most important thing is to have a duffel bag. It doesn't need to be big or flashy. It just needs to be something that you have at all times. It can be in your car, your luggage, your office, or by the front door, as long as you never leave home without it.

The second most important thing to have in the duffel bag is sneakers. It sounds stupid, but I cannot tell you the number of times I have had a client tell me they didn't workout because they forgot their sneakers that day. While I normally think that is a bunch of hooey, I certainly understand it is tough to go for a 15 minute walk in that $400 pair of 5 inch heel Manolo Blahniks. Make it a high priority to get yourself a decent pair of exercise sneakers. Try on a few pairs and see what you like. They should fit well, support your feet and arches, as well as be cushioned for any stress and impact from walking, jogging, biking or training.

Next, you should have a change of clothes. For some this may not seem necessary. It is obvious that you can strap on your shoes, head out the front door of your home or office and go for a walk. However, sometimes it is good to change clothes to mentally prepare yourself to break a sweat and really push yourself.

Another item I think is crucial is at least one exercise tube. The sheer number of exercises for upper and lower body that you can utilize is astounding. By simply tying the exercise tube around your waist and making sure that you stop every 2 minutes and perform a set of bicep curls, or band squats, you can dramatically increase your body's ability to burn fat. And isn't that the ultimate goal?

This brings me to another under-appreciated tool: a watch. Again, not entirely necessary, but if you get wrapped up in a conversation while doing cardio training, you may forget to add the intervals necessary to build muscle mass. It is easy to set the watch to go off every 2 or 3 minutes and remind you to crank out a set of lunges or crunches.

A towel is a nice addition, especially if you are training when it is hot outside.

That means you should also have a water bottle handy. Remember to drink 8 ounces of water for every 20 minutes of exercise you perform. Drink more water if it is really hot.

Now the next few items are not mandatory. But they can add to the fun factor of your duffel bag.

I am a big fan of music, so an MP3 player, ipod, disc man or even a radio tuner is a great addition. Make sure to add high energy tunes to keep you motivated.

A deck of cards always brings a challenge and keeps things interesting. There are many ways to use the deck. A simple formula is to make each suit an exercise and then perform the number of repetitions you see on the card for each exercise. It is fast and easy to do.

Same thing goes for a set of dice. Choose odds and evens and make one upper body and the other lower body. Perform the same number of reps, sprints, or intervals as the number you rolled.

As you can see, creating a workout duffel bag is an easy way to keep you motivated, remind you to get in a few minutes of exercise everyday and make the fun factor much larger. Add items that work for you and shoot me an email with any additions that work for you.

Get Fit Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually!

ne of The 7 Secrets to Turbo Charge your Life is your health. I'm not talking about joining a gym, although that may be a good idea as well. What I am suggesting though is a three pronged approach to getting fit physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I love the reaction I get from some people when I mention the third prong. Physically fit simply means taking care of your body in the traditional sense. It means making sure that you aren't doing things that will hurt you. It means eating food that is good for you, and not over-indulging yourself. You already know what that means; eat a balanced meal of mixed foods groups. It is so easy.

I am not selling a diet here. I am saying do what mom said when you were a kid. Eat some vegetables, some fruit, some carbs, and some protein. If you aren't certain what to do, go to www.andersonpersonalfitness.com and my son Ryan will help you. You should snack very little and limit your sugar intake. Don't use artificial sweeteners. Recently released research suggests that cancer cells are fueled by sugar.

Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size. When the person's immune system is strong some types of cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

When a person has cancer, it often indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

Staying physically fit also means getting enough sleep, and limiting your alcohol consumption. I recommend you quit alcohol completely if you can as it is just sugar, but moderation is fine as well. And stop smoking today. Throw the cigarettes away.

And for exercise, you can just walk. As for the disclaimer, before starting anything strenuous, see a doctor to ensure you are healthy enough for physical exercise. If you are, then you can walk around the block or on a treadmill. All you need to do is ensure that your heart is pumping and your joints are moving.

And don't ignore personal hygiene. Shower daily. Wash your hair. Clip your nails. Brush your teeth. Use deodorant and mouthwash. Silly points? How many people do you work with that smell bad? Or are you one of them?

The next is emotional fitness. This is a complex subject that I address in my book, but basically it means clearing up all of your emotional baggage from the past. Address your relationship problems. Apologize to those you have hurt, get over the men or women who have hurt you, and resolve to address all future mistakes immediately. There is a lot to this. I am not suggesting anything that will hurt you or others. I am talking about making amends to people that you have strained relationships with. Now listen, don't go confessing to something you did that will land you jail. That would be stupid. I am talking about simple things like getting over that girl that dumped you, that boss that yelled at you, that co-worker who gossiped about you. I want to unburden your guilt and shame. I mean playing ball with your son, reading to your daughter, and asking your husband how his day was without trying to top him with yours!

Get rid of all of the stuff that makes you less of the man or woman that you want to be. And when you mess up in the future, deal with it right away, and then let it go. Forgive and forget. Be the bigger person. Hakuna matata means no worries!! Email me any other cliches I've missed. You know instinctively what I mean here, so do it. Do you want to right, or happy? If you answered "right", then stop reading - there is no hope for you.

The last component is spiritual fitness. For the atheists, you too can stop reading here. I have no interest in helping or hurting your cause. For the believers and agnostics, I want you to find a higher power. Just accept that you are not the top of the food chain, nor smart enough to understand some things that only your higher power knows. Believe that an unseen force greater than you is conducting the orchestra. You also need to know that this higher power of your's wants to help you succeed, get you what you want, and for you to be happy. I absolutely know that and you can too if you work for it.

Drug Poisoning and Toxicity - Preventing Drugs Related Poisoning

Medication is good for healing when one is not well, but at times it can be harmful and fatal if prescription is ignored. This brief article gives a few tips that can be used as precaution when taking medication or prescription drugs.

Before taking any prescription drugs never take any medication if doubts arise. The physicians, nurses or pharmacists most of the time have their phone numbers on the prescription slip or container. This is there to help in case a need arises so do not hesitate to call the physician, nurse or pharmacist with any questions. That is the reason that those phone numbers are printed there.

Developing good communication with your nurse, pharmacist or doctor is another way of staying up to date on medication. It is also very important to keep track of the dosing schedule using a medication calendar or the diary. A pill dispenser is a very vital tool that can server as a reminder.

If have reduced or impaired vision, request for large print labels from your pharmacist. This is especially helpful if you are taking multiple medications and can help prevent taking an over dose. Health care providers are there to help you, if you observe any side effects from medications report them immediately.

Prescription drugs are dispensed in the right dosage, right amount and for a specific period. Do not therefore share medications with others or take their pills because it may lead to poisoning or resistance. When a drug is discontinued, throw away any remaining medicines. Do not stop taking any prescription drug or change the dose or switch to other medicines without first consulting the physician, nurse or pharmacist.

Another important strategy is to avoid doubling the dose if you forget to take medication. Always check with the physician, nurse or pharmacist first before doing anything else. Also, avoid mixing alcohol with medicines without first checking with the pharmacist.

Lastly, always keep the telephone numbers of your health care providers and poison centers in a readily accessible place so that if an emergency occurs they can be reached in the quickest possible time. Keeping these simple tips in mind can help you avoid and prevent drug related poisoning as well as drug toxicity problems.

What is a Health Farm - And What to Expect When You Get There

A health farm is a place to go to improve your health through diet and exercise. Many people who attend health farms do not experience symptoms of specific diseases. Instead, they often want to lose weight, cultivate better eating habits, or simply feel their best.

The term "health farm" is sometimes used interchangeably with "medical spa." Depending on the regulations where you live, a medical spa may be required to have a licensed physician or other health professional on the premises at all times. Unlike health farms, which usually focus on diet, fasting and exercise to improve both mind and body, medical spas can provide many other treatments, sometimes including plastic surgery. Both may have a luxury-spa environment complete with massage treatments, mineral baths, beauty treatments, and more.

Many of those who attend health farms suffer from psychological disturbances such as stress, anxiety, addiction, or insomnia. Most health farms have treatments designed to heal both body and mind. If you're considering a retreat at a health farm, here's what to expect when you get there.

Expect an out-of-the-way facility. Many health farms are located in rural areas. Most health farms emphasize serenity in daily living, and a location close to nature and far from the distractions of an urban environment helps bring their patients closer to a serene state of mind. If you're planning a stay at a health farm, don't be surprised to find it's a bit isolated-or to find yourself falling in love with the beautiful scenery.

Expect a religious or philosophical viewpoint from some spas. Many health farms do have a specific religious or philosophical point of view. Not all of them do, however. When choosing a health farm, make sure their particular religious or cultural slant is one that appeals to you.

Expect some fasting. Many patients at health farms begin their stay with a cleansing fast intended to detoxify the body. If you're there to lose weight, you may find yourself on a longer fast. Fasting often involves taking in only certain fluids during the day, usually herbal teas and fruit juices.

Expect a strong emphasis on diet and exercise. A health farm is primarily concerned with improved health through a strictly managed diet and exercise programme. At many health farms, you should also be able to access spa treatments such as massage therapy, hydrotherapy, and acupuncture. However, the emphasis is usually on diet and exercise for improved health and well-being.

Expect a strictly controlled diet. On a health farm, you will probably have a hard time finding caffeinated beverages such as tea and coffee. Most do not serve alcohol, although some may serve a limited selection of wines. In addition, depending on the purpose of your visit, you should expect a diet specially designed to help you achieve your nutritional goals.

Expect professional supervision. At a health farm, you will often see licensed nutritionists, exercise and fitness specialists, and massage and acupuncture therapists. In most cases, you will find a homeopath, osteopath, or physician in a supervisory role.

Expect an overnight stay. Most health farms expect you to stay overnight for a certain duration-a few days to a few weeks, depending on your package and your health and fitness goals. Most health farms will tell you that it's difficult to control patients' diet and exercise routine as strictly when they are staying off-site, and that an on-premises stay will ensure you get the most out of your visit.

Expect different packages for different needs. Some health farms have an emphasis on certain types of patients. However, many offer a variety of packages based on your needs-from weight-loss programmes to stress reduction, honeymoon stays to holistic health, and more. A visit to a health farm can be a rigorous exercise-oriented retreat, or it can be a relaxing vacation. It depends on the packages available.

Expect to discuss your options with the resident health professionals. Before choosing a package at a health farm, it can be a good idea to have a conversation with the resident medical staff. They will often be willing to discuss your medical history, fitness goals, and the best programme for you. In many cases, you may be able to design your own package if their pre-existing programmes don't fit your needs.

A health farm can help you change your lifestyle, adopt healthy eating habits, lose weight, detoxify your body, and more. If you're looking for a vacation that will have lasting benefits in your life, health farms are a great option to explore.

IBS Diet - Identifying IBS Trigger Foods and IBS Safe Foods

Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS is a disorder that didn't become commonly known until 1992. Although it is still largely a mysterious disease, it is now more easily diagnosed by doctors because more symptoms have been identified. Some symptoms of IBS include stomach cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhea. IBS is not a life threatening disease, but it can cause great discomfort, distress and embarrassment to people who suffer from it.

Many IBS sufferers claim that their symptoms of IBS are exacerbated by certain foods. If you have experiencing it, you will need to do some trial and error before you can identify exactly which food trigger your IBS symptoms. Keep in mind that the foods that trigger IBS in other sufferers may not trigger your IBS symptoms and vice versa. This is because this is a very individual disorder.

The first thing that most people do once they are diagnosed with IBS is get on a strict diet, avoiding most food groups. In general, this is not a good thing because it deprives the body of the necessary nutrients in order for it to function. If you have been diagnosed with IBS, the best thing you can do is start taking out the more common trigger foods from your diet. These foods include the following:

* foods high in oil content such as cooking oil, butter, spread, sauce, salad dressing, fried food and fast food

* milk and dairy products

* solid chocolate

* alcoholic drinks

* caffeinated drinks like coffee and soda

* foods that contain MSG, preservatives, additives, and artificial flavoring and sweetener

* sugar alcohols, which cause diarrhea

* foods like broccoli, corn and cauliflower that can cause gas

* starchy foods like potatoes, pasta, pumpkin, noodles and rice

While there are foods that can trigger symptoms of IBS, there are foods that are safe for people with IBS:

* foods that contain soluble fiber (e.g., oatmeal, rice, banana and white bread)

* foods that contain insoluble fiber (e.g., raw vegetables and fruits)

* tofu, which is a rich source of protein and is easily digestible

* probiotics, which provide good bacteria in the gut for strengthening the digestive system

If you are worried that you won't be able to eat foods you like because of your disorder, there's good news. You only really need to avoid IBS trigger foods for a while to give your digestive system time to stabilize. You can then slowly add back some foods into your diet. However, you need to do this one food at a time. If your digestive system accepts the food without triggering any IBS symptoms, you can continue consuming it. It can be very time consuming to identify the foods that are safe for you and the ones that can trigger your IBS symptoms, but there is no other way you'll find out.
